Favorites for low-light areas

Today we ’re visiting with Tracy Tallman in Southern Ontario .

We dwell on a very shaded country lot . This limits our plant choices considerably . Our repeat favorites includeHosta(Zones 3–9 ) , hellebores(Helleborushybrids , Zones 5–8),Heuchera(Zones 5–9 ) , bleeding hearts(Dicentrasp . ) , Japanese ferns(Athyriumniponicum , Zones 3–8 ) , grasses , andground covers . Naturalmossis growing in between the route stones . It ’s a wonderfully calming haven .

The attempt - and - true nicety fan that Tracy gardens with make a terrific lush garden . The backcloth is a Nebraska fern Sir Herbert Beerbohm Tree ( Tsugacanadensis , Zones 3–7 ) . In front , a bleed kernel ( Dicentraspectabilis , Zones 2–8 ) and hostas bestow leaf in a potpourri of colour , shapes , andtextures .
