Jet lag from the Orient is a nasty thing to recover from , but I did want to recap my trip with some images of the best orchids which I catch guile visiting the International Orchid Grand Prix in Tokyo . Even though I was on a line tripper which was non - plant related , I was rosy to be able-bodied to squeeze in a Saturday afternoon at this largest of orchidaceous plant shows . This was my second Grand Prix in Tokyo , and although it felt small , it still motivated me to go buy some orchidaceous plant . Here are some of the high spot … A Cattleya with sight of blooms . This is a show , where the specimens have an incredible turn of blossoms . A Dracula species that I did not happen to get the name of .

This is a show where the whirring and bombilation of digital tv camera and cellphone earphone contribute to the experience .

First on my wish tilt , the Australian , Dendrobium speciosum .

Second on my compliments list , Dendrobium hancockii , a branchy , deciduous Dendro that was massive in width . I HAVE to get this one !

Lycaste are perhaps the most telling at this show . I mean the cool winters in Japan provide the thoroughgoing atmospheric condition for this orchid .
