The first raw pillar of the new year from Royal FloraHolland is written by auctioneer roses Erik Wassenaar . He looks back on the twelvemonth behind us and give a coup d’oeil of 2024 .

On behalf of all auctioneers , I would wish to wish everyone a fantastic but , above all , healthy 2024 . As an auctioneer , I look back on a twelvemonth in which a lot has happened . 2023 come out with a more than fine toll level until after Mother ’s Day . From then on the prices started to degenerate and they did n’t really pick up , except for a few workweek or day(s ) . For plants , we saw that summertime price were reasonable , and fall showed the same mental picture as for flowers .

milepost : fundamental auctioning of rosesThe high spot was , of line , the further expanding upon of central auctioning , from only clock C06 to all rose redstem storksbill . The plan was to vagabond out fundamental auctioning within roses by the end of Q3 , the beginning of Q4 2023 . I had doubts about this ; so much had to be done ! But after a very intensive unconscious process , in which we as auctioneers were of form , very closely involved , November was the month that the self-aggrandizing whole step was rent : central auctioning of rosiness , a milepost in the existence of flower auction .

I have never had so much bundled supplying and purchasing force on " my " clock : a big result ! After just under two month , it is still too early to say anything structurally about the course of fundamental auctioning . But overall I can say that it is a succeeder . There are and always will be point of attention , even apart from key auctioning . We involve for feedback from our suppliers and emptor . We seek to accommodate or line up this as well and where potential . We currently have 5 central clock at Royal FloraHolland . If I take a look ahead to 2024 , I anticipate that this number will be further expand .

Special weeksThe week around New Year are always especial for an auctioneer . They are short weeks , and many mass enjoy a long weekend or a short holiday . This was not obtrusive in the pricing of the roses . blood-red pink wine did fine , and the white rose also execute well , as did the other color . There were enough numbers on the clock(s ) , but that make sense when the auction sale is closed for spare days . The first workweek of 2024 started well , but gradually , the cost did cast off slimly . As for cut amaryllis , it was a very dissimilar twelvemonth than the class before . Then the season started very well but tumble all at the remainder of the year . 2023 started moderately but much more unchanging , with even good terms at the end of December . This finally made it a reasonable season .

As for industrial plant , we had piddling supply on the clocks last over the week . Green houseplants were on the rise in terms of both supply and pricing . The first auction day was reasonable to mostly unspoilt for almost all plants in price of pricing . daffodil did very poorly at the offset of 2024 . The supply of the clocks was still low across the board .

Time to await until Valentine ’s DayIn the coming workweek , we are sort of waiting for Valentine ’s Day . Until then , pricing will largely depend on the numbers of blossom and works offer by growers on the clocks . Weather is also a significant factor . If the weather is decent and open and not too cold , output will remain at a decent spirit level .
