Inspiring plant combinations
I ’m always excited when I see an email from Istvan Dudas in the GPOD inbox . Today he ’s sharing photos taken by Ukrainian photographerMaria Savoskulaof the Stockcross House garden where Istvan is part - time head nurseryman .
Istvan has share picture of his work with us before ( Gardening as an Art Form ) and do check those out if you ’ve miss them .
Today we ’re going to look at some pic taken in the garden over the summertime , and tomorrow we ’ll be back to relish some scenery from drop .

Beautiful brick walls dissever the garden and frame views of the plantings beyond — here , the tall spires of lupines ( Lupinushybrids , zona 3–7 ) and foxgloves ( Digitalispurpurea , Zones 4–8 ) .
The bold parting of a banana add a tropical flair to thisborder , and the blanket leave counterpoint absolutely with the smaller foliage around it . Behind , you may see the tail end of the white wisteria blooms ( Wisteriasinensis , zone 6–10 ) still look beautiful even as they fade .
A swarm of brilliant red poppy ( Papaverorientale , Zones 3–7 ) , some of the lustrous stars of theearly summergarden .

refined spire of white foxgloves .
The gloomy burgundy - red of the lupines in the foreground is picked up by the ribs of the banana leaf and the foliation of the smokebush ( Cotinuscoggygria , Zones 5–8 ) beyond , while the white foxgloves are echo by the fading white wisteria in the backdrop .
The dark Orange River blossom of aCalendula(annual ) form a beautiful combination with the unbelievable violet bract ofSalviahorminum . Thisannualsage is n’t grown much in American garden , but the beautiful bracts make a wonderful and unusual display .

A fiddling greenhouse looks out over an loose meadow country .
Bright lupine prime burn against the backdrop of darksmoke bushfoliage .
The neatly mown lawn and straight bed edges give a formal direct contrast to the angry teemingness of the industrial plant in the borders .

The foliage of cardoon ( Cynaracardunculus , Zones 7–9 ) is incredibly spectacular . This relative ofartichokeswill have immense regal flowers after , but the jagged , silvern leaf is often the star of the show .
