By Kim Charles:
Joan Cunnington and her married man , have find out how to gather , hive away and reprocess rain to keep their garden thriving in Canada .
" My garden is situate on one Akko of table land on top of the Niagara Escarpment in Grimsby , Ontario , Canada . We have no admittance to municipal water or toilet , which tends to concentrate the mind powerfully on the careful use of urine in the garden . All of our water system has to be trucked up an scarp , so my hubby and I originate a system of rainwater collection and storage and the re - use of gray water , to keep his vegetable garden and my flowers thriving . Last summertime , the garden was a disaster because we campaign out ofwater . This year , rain was abundant in southern Ontario , and my flowers , many of which I mature from seed , reply magnificently . I seek a new diversity of nasturtium seed , the Phoenix , and I was astonished at its smart as a whip colors and spread ; in fact , it did n’t matter what I implant because most of my plant bloom their head off and created bright displays everywhere . The garden continue to be beautiful even now in mid - to - late October with the endearing warm atmospheric condition we ’ve had so far this autumn . "
