Year in Review :   Garden - in - a - Box and Minnesota Green

Covid-19 may have shut down schools and local businesses , but it certainly did n’t check our program player from growing . We were inspired to travail even deeper — notice way of life to proceed bringing plant , seed , tools and Education Department to our resilient and enthusiastic married person , who were eager togrow as gardenersthis past twelvemonth .

Garden - in - a - Box

In 2020 , 49 organizations fake ahead as part of ourGarden - in - a - Box ( GIAB ) outreach program . We distributed 208 new garden - circle kits and render 286 garden circles to returning groups . Our GIAB kit reached 121 sites across Minnesota , from Bryon Public Schools to Redwood County 4H in Redwood Falls , and from Tri Valley Opportunity Council in Crookston to Kickstart Preschool in Two Harbors . GIAB reached more than 3,600 people , each corner serving an average of seven the great unwashed . Participants harvested over 3,000 pounds of food from their boxes , which feast program participants , their family and biotic community .

In the aftermath of the pandemic , our spouse organizations got originative and found new way to render quality programing and horticulture experiences safely . Minnesota Green

Our other outreach course of study , Minnesota Green , received 54 donation from plant sales event , garden centers , landscape painting glasshouse and person in 2020 . More than 55,000 plant , valued at $ 85,000 , were distributed to 165 community garden throughout Minnesota .

Minnesota Green brings community together , greening public spaces and introducing native plants and pollinator habitat in urban area . In 2020 alone , Minnesota Green served over 6,000 gardeners in 165 public garden spaces .
