Hey GPODers ! We ’re lento working our way up to speed on the blog , so hold with us . Let ’s trip today to France ! These photograph are from Mariette Paardekooper .

She says,“I am a Dutch woman married to Alfred Ophof . I am a mother of two sons and grandmother since 8 calendar week . Since 2007 I could do my body of work , text corrections and translations , from rest home through the internet . We then started to repair the fermette in the Bourgogne we had buy in 1997 . It was a dilapidation without water , electrical energy , window and door .

“ Since 2 year I am retired , too , and we start to do something with the garden . I had to do something after having do work since I was 18 . I did not know I would love it so much . My parents were always work in their garden and I live the joy they shared when something started flower . My mother always had a pair of little scissor grip with her and a plastic bag to take seeds with her , I do the same .

“ We only live here the beautiful months : May – October . The winters are very cold her and since Alfred is a painter ( www.alfredophof.nl ) he also has to go back for exhibitions , orders , or his client . And I desire to go back for my children and friends .

“ We live in the Nièvre , which is part of the Bourgogne , 2.5 hours push back south of Paris . It is really the countryside . Here the famous Charolais cattle and one hour aside from Sancerre , Pouilly , Chablis and Bourgone wines . We just subsist in the eye of these wine villages . You will empathize we bed them .

“ The garden : it was a meadow . The former proprietor had some cows . There was a minuscule pool in the garden in which we put the septic tankful , which we afterwards on regret since we could have used it for the garden . Alfred made a patio and then looking at the grass we want to do something with it . So gradually the garden raise and is still under building . Apart from plants and flowers , we also have a petty potager where I mature tomatoes , capsicum , onion plant , Allium porrum , etc . It give such pleasance when we glean . ”
