Whether you make a realistic - attend chick or something more fanciful , a papier - mâché birdwill look awful alight in your menage .
These carving are quite fun to make , so be warned : you may end up with an entire flock !
While the Old World robin here is more of a folk - art mode , you could influence the hiss to look more realistic .

Other bird that would be fun to try : crows , pigeon , bluebirds , and hummingbird .
Flour + Water | 2 cup piss and 1.5 cups flour
Cornstarch + Water | 1 cup cornstarch and 1 cupful water

Pick a bird from nature or your imagination that you ’d like to hearten . Then crumple up some report to take form the flesh of the bird ’s consistency .
Cover the snort with masking tape recording , ensuring that it keep its shape .
Use the same method to create the bird ’s psyche . As you form the head , use the bird ’s body for citation and shape the head until it looks proportionate with the dead body . Then tape it firmly .

Hot glue the bird ’s caput to the body to hold them in position .

Use at least four vertical flight strip of tape to attach the bird ’s header to the dead body . Then add tape around the cervix to form a substantial , smooth attachment .

Pinch and squish a small piece of foil into a beak anatomy . If you make it too big at first , just uncrumple the foil and tear away some of it ; then redo the honker until it is the right-hand size of it .
On a laborious surface , such as a table , fret the understructure of the beak to shine and flatten . This creates a good surface for gluing the beak to the head in the next step .

Hot glue the pecker to the bird ’s head ; then add tape recording over the beak .
hack a tail feather from thin composition board — any triangular shape work .
Hot glue the tail plume to the shuttlecock . glue it under the end of the body assure that it thumb upward in a sassy way !

Then tape the ass feather and the smirch where it attach to the body to swimmingly join the two .
Draw a wing on thin composition board and cut it out . Then trace that fender onto another while of composition board and trend it out so that the wings are identical .
Cover the wings with tape .

Apply hot glue to the top third of each wing and place both wings on the bird ’s body , as shown . This lets the wings stand off from the body a little bit , which reckon adorable !
Each bird leg will consist of four pieces of wire . record the wire in a small parcel , leaving about 3/4 inch free on one end for the toes . Make two pegleg . How long should they be ? It ’s your choice , but keep in mind that you ’ll need 3/4 in for the raspberry toe at one ending and 1 column inch at the top to paste to the trunk .

Use pliers to bow the wire out for the toes — three in front and one in back . Set the legs aside . You will papier mâché the legs and body separately and attach the branch to the bird when everything is dry .
Make library paste and tear up theme . Using a long strip of paper dipped in paste , enwrap each shuttlecock leg starting just above the toes , all the way to the top of the leg . Then papier - mâché the hooter and the unattached region of the wings .
Wrap the newspaper around the extension , all the direction up to where it is glued down . It ’s helpful to get these share done first , as they are the most complex . Then papier - mâché the rest of the shuttle .

lease the papier - mâché dry ; then sandpaper the bird .
To attach the leg , apply pointy scissors to make two pickle in the underbelly of the dame . Do n’t interest — he ca n’t feel it !
Make the holes toward the mediate back , leaving about 1 in or so between them . Add a small hot gum in the mess and stick the stage in , understructure forward !

Gesso the whole hiss . ensure to get under the wings !
Painting doll is so much playfulness ! The multiple steps and layers take a snatch of time , but the outcome are worth it . First , paint the base color . Let them dry .
Then paint the nib and add feathers . Light dabs and lines with a pocket-sized brush make lovely feather textures . stratum until you ’re happy .

mark off that your bird is balanced and has a whole position . Adjust the toe wires if necessary .
tot the oculus using paint mark for good control . I also added red cheeks because I love the way they look . Let dry completely .
seal off and get dry .

Tip : I like to use a paint marker to paint the toe wires .
expose your chick and never give it away because you love it too much .
