Favorite blooms from the other side of the globe
We ’re off to New Zealand today to chew the fat Lynne Leslie ’s garden . We ’ve visited before ( Lynne ’s Garden in New Zealand ) , and it is always fun to see what she is raise .
Here are photos taken inlate springin my small - townspeople garden in Wellington , New Zealand . I sleep together perennials , vegetables , and shrubs , and I plant them snug together to keepweedingto a minimum .
Every twelvemonth I plant snapdragons(Antirrhinum , Zones 8–11 or as coolheaded - time of year annual ) and post them as they grow to protect them from the strong winds we get here on the hill . They bloom from wintertime through to summertime , when rust attack them . I then interchange them with other seasonal plants .

Plantingevergreen plantsunder trees give stake all year , and I tuck in colorfulannualsdepending on the season . Cinerarias(Pericallis× hybrida , Zones 9–11 or as annual)self - sow , along withprimula , then theroses , hydrangea , genus Dianthus , and other perennials come into their own for summer .
The wayside is a drunken revelry of easy - care color for pawl Zimmer frame and motorists to enjoy : roses , gazania , dianthus , euphorbia , daisy , wallflowers , iris , etc.—all sun lover .
I do love clematis and grow many varieties and colors through rose and shrubs , up metal anatomy and anywhere else I can fit one in . This is our New Zealand native , Clematispaniculata(Zones 4–8 ) .

Peonies(Paeoniaspecies and loanblend , Zones 4–8 ) are another favorite , but due to the fact that our wintertime in Wellington do not get moth-eaten enough for them to flourish , I help them along with chalk third power and potassium during winter . This lemon one is the first to flower and has vast blooms .
Cape primroses(Streptocarpus , Zones 10–11 or as an annual or houseplant ) do very well outside and also in pots in the gazebo . I watch over them cautiously , assnailsare inclined to have a wonderful lunch if I have them .
