Looking back on a month of flowers
My name is Angie Caruthers , and this is my backyard garden in northwest Arkansas . I ’ve been gardening for about five years since we go to Arkansas from North Texas . These picture were all take during the calendar month of July . I typically take a slew of photos every month so I can keep cut of what is bloom during each metre of the year and make eminence on where to fill gaps for the undermentioned year . I also stress to keep to a color palette of violets , Orange River , and white .
This bed outside my breakfast nook was overcrowded with iris earlier this spring , and though I did keep some of the sword lily , I add some perennial purple phlox and allium along with annual whitelantana(which is gorgeous ) and some ‘ Alabama Sunrise ’ heucherella(Heucheralla‘Alabama Sunrise , Zones 4–9 ) , framed by purple loropetalum(Loropetalumchinense , Zones 7–10 ) and oakleaf hydrangea(Hydrangea quercifolia , Zones 5–9 ) . May Night salvia(Salvia‘Mainacht ’ , Zones 4–8 ) in the foreground .

My orange daylilies(Hemerocallishybrid ) really take up the centre , and the white vinca(Catharanthusroseus)are sun - loving heat- and drouth - resistant annuals that wait lush all summer long .

Orange trumpet vine(Campsisradicans , Zones 5–9 ) is also an centre - capture summer blunder , though I do have to be open-eyed about pruning , since it disseminate via underground runners and run to pop up in undesirable place ( i.e. , not along the fence ) .

Black - eyed Susan(Rudbeckiahirta , zone 3–7 ) and livid ‘ David ’ phlox(Phloxpaniculata‘David ’ , Zones 4–8 ) are my other go - to summertime peak . ( Is n’t my puppy the cutest ? She ’s a big model . )
