In a Vase on Monday. A Whiter Shade of Pale.

In spring the garden is full of lily-livered flowers which is cheerful but not exactly subtle .

So today I felt in the mood for some pure white and perchance some delicate ointment . We all love white efflorescence ; Vita Sackville West ’s blank garden at Sissinghurst must be one of the most imitated . I do n’t have a clean garden but I always have plenty of snowy efflorescence .

Today is Monday , the day that Cathy atRambling in the   Gardenasks us to share a vase of flowers from the garden .   So I draw in out my shiny   black vase and filled it with ointment and white and off - whiteness off bloom and I am pleased with the frothy effect .

I have lots of different daffodils in the garden which I did n’t plant and I am not sure of their names . I love the frilly trumpets of   this one .

The orange tree makes a jarring musical note on this next one but it is quite dainty and is scented . I imagine the large livid one might be ‘ Mount Hood’ . My favourite isNarcissus‘Thalia ’ which I have constitute all over the garden .

I am not so cracking on the double ones but these are a dainty creamy colour . Leucojum aestivumis great for a vase and they grow like weeds in my garden . The creamy bloom above isSkimmia x confusa‘Kew Green ’ which is deliciously fragrant . The one below is ‘ Kew White ’ . Skimmias are promiscuous from cuttings so I have them dotted about the garden with white , cream or pink prime .

I have been in a bit of a rushing today but it is always worth taking a few min to make certain we get some flower at heart to relish , specially if we have the bonus of delicious scent . So many thanks to Cathy for advance us all to take the time to bring some of the garden indoors .

I make out that daffodil with the ruffled trumpet and the leaf of the Euonymus sets off the heyday nicely . I wish I had some variegate foliage that would serve a similar determination – or rather , I wish the motley foliage I do have , Pittosporum tobira , did n’t carry an unsavory scent that has me hesitate to use it in anything but a very pocket-sized scale .

Thalia was my mother ’s darling , and it is my favourite . Seeing all of these White is dazzle ! I need to tally more !

Lovely . I do n’t know where to start – it ’s all so moony . I ca n’t waitress to have flowers from my garden for a vase . 🙂
