When we did a petty unpaid remodeling in our porch this summertime , I looked at my cast iron pans that require to be stored in there and had a visual sense for a sight rack that would echo the qualities of that pan – bumpkinly , hardheaded , wide-eyed , strong , and beautiful ( in my humble opinion ) .   I love the potentiometer stand excogitation we came up with , and I think it could work in any homestead kitchen , buttery , or storage area .   You could even apply this design for hang things in your workshop .

How to Make a Rustic Pot Rack

We left ample space between our pots because we were using the whole wall for our pot rack. You can put them closer together to save space, too.

This pot wrack is designed to debase along a wall , with pot hung next to each other .   It take up a bit more space horizontally than a three - dimensional pot rack that might attend above a counter , but the benefit is that the weed all consist monotone along the wall . In that sense , it is less obtrusive .   If you do n’t have space for a pot rack in the middle of your room , this is a overnice pick that total character without take up too much space .

Preparation

Before you go out to buy or otherwise find your material , you ’ll need to decide what you want to hang on your pot rack and take some mensuration .   Lay your pots and genus Pan out on the floor in a strain and see how much space it would take to hang them all horizontally next to each other .   Determine the duration of your control board by measuring the length across the tops of your pots and pans , with quad at either conclusion .

Of course , you also need to consider the infinite you have for advert .   How much can you fit ?   We had a full - length wall to work with so we gave our pot and pans muckle of quad and decided to stretch the toilet rack across the whole wall because we wish how it sum up to our space .   You could just as easily progress a crapper rack that is 3 invertebrate foot long and holds 5 pots .

The top of your card is really about preference .   It should likely be at least 6 inches tall to see that it can be hung and have hooks installed without splitting .   We chose to utilize a full b plank ( 12 inches ) because we feel it also kept the pots forth from scratching the wall , and we like the look of it .

pot rack spacing

Laying your peck out also helps you to determine how many crotchet or nail you ’ll want for hanging them .   find out your spacing ( we want uniform spacing but you could also put some of them nearer together ) , and look how many hooks you’re able to check .

Find the studs in your bulwark ( here are some hints on how to chance he-man ! ) and settle where they will fall behind your board .   Measure and mark bolt placement ( lined up with studs ) on your plug-in before putting it up on the paries .   Place the display board on the wall , level , and declare in place .   For each bolt , pre - exercise a hole one size smaller than the bolt then set up the dash using the drill up until the last few turns ; then expend the twist to finish so that you do n’t push too severely into your bag woodwind instrument .

Step Four : Install your hooks .

We prefer to set up the sweetener after the board was climb as this made the board easier to work with when rise .   you may put in first if you prefer .   Remember to pre - drill trap before put in your hooks if they are screw - in hook .   For our cut nail , we pre - drilled a hold at a down slant , and then forge the nails in about half way , being careful not to split the wood .
