Next week we ’ll jump into some of those bang-up submission I got , but I decided to end the hebdomad on one last draw in from the archive — my personal photo archive that is . Now that we ’re in the thick of fall , I determine to apportion a dot of top summer color . The following picture are from a trip toAcadia National Parkand the neighboring town of Bar Harbor , Maine a twosome of summers ago . In the midst of awe-inspiring sea scene , jolting beach , cliffs , mount , and lobster rolls , there were an assortment of burnished heyday in long beds and bountiful containers .
Beautiful planting can be institute throughout Bar Harbor in the summertime , and I particularly sleep together this pretty purple combination . blue purple petunias really pop in front of the bright green foliage and spires of lighter purple salvia andtall verbena(Verbena bonariensis , Zones 7–11 ) . The jumbo white-livered dahlia and peek of ocean behind make for a lovely backcloth , too .
Another adorable bottom featured a Brobdingnagian Incrediball ® smooth hydrangea ( Hydrangea arborescens‘Abetwo ’ , Zones 3–8 ) that glows above a kaleidoscope of colorful flowers and sea of silveryartemisia .

Literally every colour was on exhibit that summertime .
The photograph above were occupy in and aroundAgamont Parkin Bar Harbor . The park has incredible thought of the wharf and Frenchman Bay , with plenty of benches and green spaces to baby-sit and enjoy the nature that surrounds . This gorgeous natural spring is a beautiful , central gunpoint .
This container , and the small one below , were outsideJordan Pond House , the restaurant next to the iconic pool of the same name in Acadia National Park . Acadia and Bar Harbor are unfeignedly must - see terminus for gardeners in the summertime , with so many awe - inspiring natural landmarks and gorgeous plantings all in close propinquity .

The other , smaller container that was just as lovely . Bright pink lophospermum pairs so nicely with the purple / purple vervain .
Lastly , a gorgeous window box full of colourful leafage . orotund geranium leaves and Lemon Twist Swedish common ivy plectranthus ( Plectranthus ‘ Lemon Twist ’ , yearly ) get accented by pops of peach begonias .
