From Barren Plot to Urban Oasis

Small space, big garden

Today we ’re visiting with Max Cannon who gardens in south San Francisco , California :

Our garden started as a barren plot of concrete and hard - pan clay in 2017 , our mission has been to create a flavor of haven in anurban background .

Gardening is our primary tool for self - reflection , our palette includes a diverse array of plant include bromeliads , thenar , andsucculents .

Vertical elementsare a key feature in our verysmall gardencreating a feeling of envelopment .

We have also endeavor to make intimateseating areas , places we can unlax and look up to the various array of plant human body in our garden .

While flowered color is minimal and subdued most of the year , foliage color is always a primary concern when selecting and placing plant life in the garden .

We have emphasizedsilverandbluein our garden , and have used bold paint colors on our plate to help oneself make a backdrop for our dear industrial plant , admit a rampart inspire by Yves St. Laurent ’s Villa Oasis .

Recycled stuff has also become a key element in our garden , a favourite is the mattress springs we salvage around town . Here a mattress spring serve as a spot forTillandsia(air plants ) to growing and flower .
