Beauty from the past couple years

We ’re in Yorkville , Illinois , bring down with Anita Drendel again . We sawsome photos of her garden in the GPOD recently , and she ’s back to share more of her favorites from the past few years .

I ’m insure aredtheme here — bright redMandevilla(Zones 10–11 or as an one-year ) in a redpotin the foreground , echoed by reddened flowers and leaf from shrub in the space .

What a heavy way to exhibit aharvest of vegetablesandherbsfrom the garden ! They are as beautiful to look at as they are luscious and nutrient .

Here ’s where some of those vegetables get from — a productiveraised layer . This bed is full ofcool - season vegetableslikelettuceand wampum , no incertitude to be switched out forsummer cropsliketomatoesand white pepper as the weather condition warms .

A statue helps to water the garden .

Red aboriginal aquilege ( Aquilegiacanadensis , Zones 3–8 ) appear beautiful with a deep reddish - brown whiskery fleur-de-lis ( Irishybrid , Zones 3–8 ) .

This weigela ( Weigelaflorida , Zones 5–9 ) , in peakspring flush , is paired with the marvelous steeple of lupine ( Lupinuspolyphyllus , Zones 3–7 ) .

How ’s this for a beautiful garden visitant ? A scarlet tanager rests in anoakleaf hydrangea(Hydrangeaquercifolia , Zones 5–9 ) in May , just as thehydrangeais starting to riff out .
