In today ’s post , I ’ll give some nimble reviews of books on the 2022 meter reading list .

Since I read 42 books last year , I ’m not going to set about to cover them all in one post . Making it a unconstipated Saturday stake and working through the listing over time instead seems sensitive .

Plus , the weekend is a great time to buy new books .

Like every other day .

Born Again Dirtby Noah Sanders

This was my second time readingBorn Again Dirt , and I had the extra boon of attending theRedeeming the Dirtconference with Noah in 2022 , in Central Alabama , a few hour northerly of our homestead .

The principles he covers are inspiring , and his Christian worldview on caring for the great unwashed and the ground is refreshing . This is a Quran with practical tips as well as spiritual perceptiveness and I delight it as much – or more – the 2nd time .

An Agricultural Testamentby Sir Albert Howard

An Agricultural Testamentis a collection of writings by Sir Albert Howard , the expectant agricultural research worker . He move the British Empire , working with various crops and watch practice session , while inventing Modern and improved method acting of composting and stain care . His desire to reprocess “ wastes ” back into the soil and to bolster plant nutrition to ward off disease was ahead of its time . An easy read and inspiring .

LandraceGardeningby Joseph Lofthouse

LandraceGardeningby renegade plant stock breeder Joseph Lofthouse sparkles with whizz . Why not mix up source stemma ? Why not create new heirlooms ? Why not give all your corn varieties together and see what happens ?

Lofthouse urges you to break the rules and crack out of the forward-looking compulsion with heedful preservation of extremely inbred cum lines with cutesy little stories and rather adapt flora genetic science to your region through throwing a huge amount of sort at the stain until something corking control stick !

This book was extremely influential on our planting in 2022 and will continue to be so this class , as we work to create our own topically conform landraces .

A must - read .

The Contagion Mythby Thomas S. Cowan and Sally Fallon Morrell

This bookwas banned from Amazonduring the pandemic , so of course I had to purchase and scan it .

Sally Fallon Morrell is the current president of the Weston A Price Foundation ( of which Rachel and I are also members ) and a lead advocator of cure yourself through an splendid traditional dieting . I was unfamiliar with Thomas S. Cowan , though I later plant out he argues that the inwardness is not a ticker . This made me like him , since it was such a wild - voice theory . When I scat into a female Quaker who read she had also readThe Contagion Myth , I yelled at her , “ THE center IS NOT A PUMP , DOROTHY ! ”

I guess this was hilarious . She laughed courteously .

But back to the book .

The Contagion Mythquestions the modern germ possibility of disease , prove that there was significant fake and questionable analysis over the years , including damning evidence on the chicane of modern medical saint Louis Pasteur . Other possibilities for the spreadhead of disease are postulated , admit EMF exposure , poor victuals , sympathetic vibrations , the body resetting itself , etc . It ’s not a completely closed case , but it does a dependable job poking muddle in the mainstream consensus . Since the mainstream consensus is an absolute racket fly the coop by Big Pharma and its bought - and - pay for governmental agency , this book is important . I hope we read more on alternative theories in the future tense and that this opens up a dear conversation .

NOTE : This Holy Scripture has now been republished asThe Truth about Contagion .

The History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire(Volumes 1 to 5) by Edward Gibbon

Rachel bribe me this serial publication some years ago when we experience in North Florida . We then moved to Grenada and I had to leave many of my Bible behind , including this set of eight volumes .

When we return to the United States Department of State , I incur it back from my female parent ’s post and started read at the end of 2021 , making it most of the way through loudness one before getting disembarrass of my wise phone at the beginning of 2022 . Once that stupid telephone was gone , I was ready to stray , and made it through the first five mass by mid - twelvemonth . Then we had to move , and during the move I lose the rest period of the serial in a good deal of boxes and was unable to complete the set and moved on to other book .

Gibbon has some preconception against the Christian religious belief , but if you may get past his prejudice , he is truly an excellent author . The story is engaging and takes you through century after century of war , assassinations , intrigue , invasions , battles , love affairs , the birth and growth of Christianity , the Huns , the Goths , the Franks , the rise of Constantinople and the Byzantine Empire and the last , sad days of Empire in the West , among many other in high spirits and low points . His footnotes often contain entertaining asides , and the prose is imminently decipherable , especially considering the serial was write in the later 1700s .

If you have not readThe History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire , you should . It will give you a much better understanding of where the West is today and how it got here .

As a side note , multiple people have asked me if I see parallels to modern day America in Gibbon ’s chef-d’oeuvre . My answer is , “ yes , but America is much less static and rational than Rome . ”

Rome managed to last for over a thousand old age . The US will be golden if it hold up until 2050 .

NOTE : The version I have is an eight - volume hardening , whereas the best - search version on Amazon ( pictured above)is a six - bulk hardening . There are also editions that have the entire serial publication packed into a unmarried volume , but I think that would be an absolute brick to read and recommend going for a multi - volume version instead .
