A favorite color through the seasons
I ’m Kathleen Shelman , and I ’ve gardened on our acre in Corbett , Oregon , for 35 years . I love using blue in my garden , so here ’s a sampling of blueness throughout the year . I used to be more fussy about what I considered atrue bluein my color combinations , but now I include anything that ’s close .
My bottle bush is fence in byfernsin summer , but it really demonstrate up in the C. P. Snow .
The very first blue of the spring is anIris reticulata(maybe the form ‘ Harmony ’ , Zones 5–9 ) .

Grape hyacinths(Muscari aremeniacum , Zones 4–8 ) have colonized an former stairway where minor once waited to overtake the school day autobus .
Naturalized scilla(Scilla siberica , Zones 3–8 ) andAnemoneblanda(Zones 3–9 ) dividing line with yellowErythronium oregonum(Zones 5–8 ) .
Clematis‘Multi - blue ’ ( Zones 4–10 ) practice a fig tree for documentation . I typically do not have good luck with theclematisfamily , so this one was a nice surprise .

The sick sorry ofGallega officionalis‘Lady Wilson ’ ( Zones 5–8 ) unhorse up a sea of cat valium .
AVeronicaspicata(Zones 3–8 ) , on the left field , is complemented by a very largeCampanula(probably zone 4–8 ) on the rightfulness . Both of these plants have been propel a few time . They were inherited from the previous nurseryman , Faith Mackaness , so they are at least 40 year old .
I love Amytal / purples with orange , as with this seedlingGeranium(Zones 5–8 ) andHemerocallis‘Rajah ’ ( Zones 3–9 ) .

In August , hydrangeasedge what in spring is thebulbgarden . Here areHydrangea macrophylla‘Tellers Blue ’ and ‘ Ayesha ’ ( zone 5–9 ) .
