The 171st General Assembly of the Bureau International des Expositions ( BIE ) has officially recognized Expo 2027 Yokohama as an International Horticultural Exhibition . Taking space in Yokohama , Japan , between 19 March and 29 May 2025 , the Horticultural Expo will be organized under the subject “ Scenery of the Future for Happiness . ”

The BIE Member States gathered in the General Assembly in Paris and nemine contradicente agreed with the BIE Executive Committee ’s good word to yield recognition to Expo 2027 Yokohama , request by the Government of Japan . This recognition confirms the condition of the Horticultural Expo as an International Exhibition and makes it possible for Japan to invite outside participant via diplomatic canal .

To mark the conventional identification , the BIE iris was ceremoniously handed to Toshiyuki Hayashi , Vice - Minister , Ministry of Land , Infrastructure , Transport and Tourism of Japan . Addressing the General Assembly via video substance following the recognition , Japan ’s Minister of Land , Infrastructure , Transport and Tourism , H.E. Tetsuo Saito , indicate : “ Under the theme “ Scenery of the Future for Happiness , ” this Expo aims to make a sustainable order coexist with nature , in which citizenry have a deep sense of felicity through their relationship with flower and greenery . ”

The Secretary General of the BIE , Dimitri S. Kerkentzes , stated : “ Horticultural Expos act an significant role in supporting and showcasing greenish solutions to the challenges face people and the satellite . exposition 2027 Yokohama , by gathering area from around the humankind , will foreground not only the lively role of nature for humanity and for mother happiness but also the grandness of repairing , restoring , and maintaining it for future generations . ”

Expo 2027 Yokohama is the 24th International Horticultural Exhibition to be recognized by the BIE since 1960 . Horticultural Expos promote and stomach a more harmonious relationship between the great unwashed and nature and reflect the cooperation , goodwill , and commitment of the international community to protect , preserve and enhance the multifariousness and promises of nature . The most recent Horticultural Expo take station between April and October 2022 in Almere , the Netherlands , under the theme of “ develop Green Cities . ” The next Horticultural Expo will take station in Doha , Qatar , between 26 January 2025 and 15 May 2025 , under the composition “ Green Desert , Better Environment .
