Cottage garden perennials fill this garden with color
Today we ’re heading to Toronto to see the garden of Lucile Yates .
About seven years ago , I got free of most of the lawn in the front garden and planted low - growing , drought - tolerant plants in the front 20 ft . I left the original seam of taller perennial behind them and planted a spook garden of hostas and hydrangeas under the Sir Herbert Beerbohm Tree . In the spring there are hundreds of bulbs of all variety . I especially wish species tulip , as they are deer resistant . One of the focal points in the spring is the Cercis canadensis tree(Cerciscanadensis , Zones 5–9 ) .
The back garden has several perennial bottom , with one devote mostly topeoniesand another to fleur-de-lis .

My garden backs onto Lake Ontario on the Scarborough Bluffs , so there is a microclimate that is slightly more moderate than in many office of Toronto .
I ’ve been gardening for more than 25 years . I attempt to turn dozens of plant that draw in pollinator . I enjoy the traditional English bungalow garden plants , and I care to stress unusual plants as well . The tall part of the front garden has a magnificent meadow herb of grace that produce 10 foot marvellous and has a mist of small lavender flowers . It ’s calledlavender mist(Thalictrumrochebruneanum , Zones 4–7 ) , of course .
In 2018 some kind person who admired the garden nominated the front garden for the Toronto gardens prize . It guide first place in the Environmental garden category .

An English - style perennial planting around the lawn . I ’d love to sit down back in those sofa chairwoman and enjoy the view .
A largeredbudtree is a high-pitched point of the saltation garden display , backed up by numerous spring bulbs .
Bright colour on the paseo to the front yard , focus on yellow and blue .

A naturalistic mixture of perennial , with lavender mist meadow rue living up to its name .
Bright California poppies ( Eschscholziacalifornica , annual ) are living sunshine .
Ground covers making a beautiful carpeting .

Native perennial such as purple coneflower ( Echinaceapurpurea , Zones 4–9 ) see that pollinators have lots of food .
thickly plant beds with lots of color and interest from both foliage and flowers .
